Mystery??

Well here is a photo that is a mystery to me at least. It is marked "Official Photograph, USAF" "Photo. Lab. Perrin A.F. Base"

It shows a group of men, some in uniform, some not. My grandfather is the last one on the right top row. I see a minster's collar and a Salvation Army hat. My grandfather was a minster, so I wonder if this could be a group of chaplains. I have sent an email to a few guys I found online who are connected with Perrin A.F. Base. But I have not heard anything yet.

Any ideas out there, Murrays??

Young Franklyn

I think this is a very young Franklyn. It really looks like Craig when he was young. I'm not sure who the others are, perhaps brothers and sisters. There is not any writing on the back, so we need to guess.

Another very early photo of my grandpa, C. Franklyn Murray

Anyone know how old the auto is in the background?

C. Franklyn Murray - -I think this is before 1931 (year of their marriage) as he looks bit younger the the wedding photo.

1910 census - Cambridge Franklyn Murray

This census shows my grandpa at age 1 yr. He is living with his parents James Monroe and Cora Ann. They live at 169 Pennsylvania Ave in Dallas, Texas. Albert, Euna, Eunice, and William are there as well.

Cambridge Franklyn and Lois Murray ministered at Calvary Church in Castro Valley. They were there when the church began a building program for a new large facility. On my field trip last week I went back to the church, to see if I could get some photos of it today. I was able to meet the pastor of 30 years and his wife. Also a gal who was there when my grandparents were. She remembered “Brother Murray” and “Sister Lois” very well. They were so generous and gave me duplicates of many photos of the groundbreaking and Dedication Sunday.

The top photo shows the old church across the street.

The photo of the large group in front of the new church shows my grandfather, grandmother, mom and dad (with hair~smile~) my sister and me (in a striped dress)......all in the far right corner. One can see my twin Great Aunts Euna and Eunice dressed alike. My Aunt Cathey is peeking out from behind them.

There is a photo I took of the communion table. One can see it in the old photo of the choir singing. The pastor who is there now refinished it a few years ago. The BIG bible on top was given on the dedication day, so it is the bible that was there when Grandpa and Grandma were there.

I love the photo of Grandma with her handbag at the groundbreaking. All proper women had their handbag with them at all times. It makes me smile.

This is the Dedication Sunday program.

This is the information Calvary Church put out about their building program

Cora Ann was a member of this church

The information in the post about Granny's house says that Cora Ann was a member of Calvary Temple Church. This church is near Granny's house and the plaque seems to line up. I think this is the church. No one was there that day, so I took a photo through the window, that is why it is a bit blurry. Neat to think of Cora Ann attending here........

The beginning......

I have decided to start a blog so I can share the photos, census records and more. I am really enjoying looking into our past as I move into my future.

Right now I have been working on the Paternal Lines : Murray, Patton, Busby, Neel, Deskin, Peoples, Garrett, Burson, McWorter, Snider and Leavell.
